How To Move Oil To New London In Frostpunk 2

In Frostpunk 2’s second chapter, Ambitions, you’ll be establishing a colony at the Old Dreadnought in order to establish a steady supply of Oil to New London. However, once you do that, it might not be totally clear how to actually move the Oil from your colony to your city.

The menu to do so is pretty easy to miss, and you’ll have to understand this in order to progress through the game’s Story Mode and keep your city supplied with the resources it needs.

Transferring Resources To New London

First, you’ll have to establish a Settlement and upgrade it to a Colony – refer to our Settlement guide and our guide to Chapter 2 if you need help with that. Once you’ve built your Oil Extraction District, you’ll need to move that Oil to your main city.

Start by o pening the panel for your Old Dreadnought colony. You’ll find this next to the mountain icon symbolising the Frostlands – it will look like an oil barrel. Clicking on this will reveal an image of the Old Dreadnought colony, as well as three icons: a box with arrows on either side, three people with arrows on either side, and an eye with an arrow pointing downwards.

Click the first icon to open the Resource Transfer menu. You’ll see a number of resources you can transfer here, including Coal, Oil, Food, Materials, and Goods.

While we’re focusing on Oil here, it’s always a good idea to play with these sliders so that your Colonies are receiving the supplies required for basic maintenance from New London. You can also use the Meet Demand button on a resource, represented by scales, to prioritize meeting that Colony’s demand.

Hover over the Oil slider. You’ll be able to see that the Colony is producing a surplus of Oil. Move the slider to the right so that it’s transferring Oil to New London.

You can also transport stockpiles of resources either way, as long as one side has a big enough stockpile and the other side has enough stockpile capacity.

Transferring Population To Colonies

Unlike in your capital city, populations will not increase on their own within colonies. As you expand your operations in a colony, you may need to transfer people over to keep all Districts working at maximum efficiency.

The process is similar to that of transferring Resources. Instead of clicking the first icon in the Old Dreadnought panel, click the second icon. This will open a Population Transfer menu where you can send workers from your city to your colony, or vice versa. Simply use the slider to dictate how many workers will move, and in which direction.

The game’s UI will warn you if you are about to transfer too many workers from one place to another. If you
transfer more workers than you have employed
, districts and buildings from the source
will deactivate
.

Transferring workers takes time, so be patient. You can see the estimated travel time in the top-right corner of the screen, above the Frostlands icon.
