Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater might be primarily a stealth game, but there are also some survival mechanics at play here, too. Healing yourself is going to take quite a bit more than simply pressing a button and forgetting about it, and the same goes for your stamina, too.

To maintain your stamina, you’re going to need to have a constant supply of food. (Unless you’re playing on the easiest difficulty.) You’ll be responsible for obtaining your own food, and different kinds of food are going to restore different amounts of stamina, as well as elicit different reactions out of Snake.

How To Collect Food

There are a couple of different varieties of food in Snake Eater: there’s the food you simply find lying around, which is usually packaged and processed food like Ramen and Rations. Then, there’s the fresh food that you’ll need to catch yourself, which is either going to be animals or plants.

To catch animals or grab plants, you’ll need to hit them in some way. This would usually be done by shooting it. If you shoot an animal with a lethal weapon you’ll obtain its meat. If you shoot an animal with a non-lethal weapon, it’ll allow you to trap it in a cage.

You have three cages on you at one time. You can throw animals in cages at enemies, or you can eat them. If you have dead animal meat on you, it will eventually spoil, and eating it will make Snake sick.
