Ah, Palia! As an MMO enthusiast myself, the moment I heard about this cozy shared-world multiplayer game, it piqued my interest. It’s currently teasing players with its closed beta, and know it’s in open beta, excitement is palpable. Given its PC orientation, it’s only natural for gamers to wonder if they can run Palia on the buzzworthy Steam Deck.

Is Palia playable on Steam Deck?

So, the burning question: Can you play Palia on the Steam Deck? While the game isn’t natively available for Steam Deck, I’ve got good news! Palia can indeed run on the Steam Deck. So, to put your anxious hearts at ease: Yes, it’s possible! As someone who thrives on exploring every nook and cranny of the gaming universe, stumbling upon this solution was a eureka moment.

Despite some initial hiccups with the game’s closed beta – like the game launcher not always detecting downloaded files – it works fine with a few tweaks. However, don’t expect it to run 100% flawlessly.

How to get Palia Playable on Steam Deck

If you’re as eager as I was to get Palia up and running on the Steam Deck, follow these steps. I’ve broken them down to ensure it’s as smooth a process as possible for you:

  1. Initial Setup: Make sure your Steam Deck is running Windows. Once that’s sorted, download the Palia launcher onto your device.
  2. Integration with Steam: Launch your Steam application and add PaliaLauncher.exe as a Non-Steam game.
  3. Head to the Steam Library: Select Palia, navigate to its shortcut preferences, and force Proton.
  4. Running Palia Launcher: Once you’re back on your Steam Deck, fire up the Palia launcher. Click on that ‘install’ button.
  5. vigating to Installation Path: This might sound complex, but bear with me! Head to: /home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/
  6. Finding the Palia Launcher: Once done, go to the following path: /pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/Palia/Launcher/
  7. Final Touch: After you’ve found the newly installed Palia launcher in the above path, right-click and copy its path.
  8. Go back to Steam: Return to Steam and set Palia’s target path to the one you copied

Though it may seem a tad complex, following it step by step should get you into the world of Palia in no time. Trust me, the serene landscapes and cozy gameplay are well worth the effort.
