Upon its release, Baldur’s Gate 3 introduced Karlach, a tiefling barbarian who has since charmed her way into the hearts of players. Winning her over takes a little more than flowers and wine, however; this hellish soldier carries a burden from her past—one that could land the party in hot water if left unchecked.
To advance Karlach’s personal story, you must collect Infernal Alloy and give them to Dammon—a tiefling refugee versed in infernal forging. Keeping track of Dammon, however, can prove difficult as his location changes depending on your story progress. This guide will show you where you can find Dammon at every step of the way in your journey.
Who Is Dammon?
Karlach’s story quest hinges on her unique condition—an infernal engine serves as her heart, requiring regular tune-ups by an infernal mechanic.
As such, providing Karlach with the necessary Infernal Alloy and obtaining Dammon’s expertise for this procedure is vital to her story progression.
But even if you don’t care much about keeping her heart unexploded, Karlach’s situation isn’t the only reason to hold on to Infernal Alloy.
If you speak to Dammon without Karlach in your party, he can instead use the Infernal Alloy to craft a series of heavy armor pieces with interesting perks.
Besides his skills in infernal forging, Dammon also serves as a trader and merchant, and his shop inventory contains a variety of useful equipment.
Dammon’s Location In Act 1 – Druid Grove
At the start of the game—likely around the time you meet and recruit Karlach—Dammon will be located in the Hollow of the Emerald Grove—also known as the Druid Grove.
You’ll be able to find him toiling away in his smithy (X:182, Y:555), lamenting his past days of working with infernal forges in the Hells. Well, you’re about to make his day.
Speak to him with Karlach in your party after learning of her condition and he’ll be more than glad to help you out.
Karlach will explain her situation to you only after you help her kill the «Paladins of Tyr» hunting her at the Toll House.
Dammon’s Location In Act 2 – Last Light Inn
As you navigate through Act 1 of Baldur’s Gate 3, your decisions will drastically affect the game world.
Should you choose to ally with the tieflings and druids, leading to the demise of the goblin camp leaders, Dammon, along with other refugees, will relocate from the Druid Grove.
You’ll encounter Dammon again while en route to Baldur’s Gate in Act 2, where some of the tiefling refugees are trapped in the Last Light Inn, caught in the conflict between the Harpers and Kethric Thorm’s forces. Though some of the refugees were captured by Thorm’s forces, Dammon, thankfully, made it out.
He can be located near the stables (X:-31 Y:164) at the Last Light Inn, managing a makeshift smithy and ready to offer up his services and wares.
If you fail to protect Isobel during the «Seek Protection From The Shadow Curse» questline, her protective light over the inn fades.
All inhabitants, including Dammon, will become shadow-cursed undead, thereby rendering Dammon’s skillset permanently unavailable from then on.
